Silver End Tables Before/After

A few months ago, I painted a pair of nightstands silver and put them in my guestroom for staging pictures. My husband liked them so much that we ended up keeping one of them! Ever since then, I've been on the hunt for something else to paint silver!

When I found these, I knew they would be perfect! They had such lovely wood detailing and hardware.

Unfortunately, one small piece was missing from one of the nightstands, so I wasn't able to use the original hardware. When I tried the different knobs I had, I couldn't come up with a combination for the doors and the drawers that I liked, so I decided to leave the doors off. I used basically the same technique found here to paint them, but with latex paint instead of spray paint.

I finished them off with beautiful crystal knobs. We were in such a hurry to get these in our shop for opening day that I didn't take time to stage them, but they turned out beautifully!

Graffiti Dresser Before and After

So, I always give my pieces a name - usually I call them what they are going to be, for example, "the turquoise dresser," or "the chalkboard dresser". This one is simply "the graffiti dresser" . I found it at a garage sale - it was in great condition but the owners were selling it because their teenage daughters had covered it with marker and "Twilight" stickers (seriously???!!!)

I had a client who wanted it painted in my favorite shade of green, so we got to work on it. I gave it a good cleaning and found the biggest stash yet inside one of the drawers - CD's, a huge jewelry box full of jewelry, books, notes, etc. SCORE!!! Just kidding. Luckily for them, I remembered where they lived, and was able to return everything. (Note to self: check all drawers before getting rid of anything!) I also left them one of our business cards just in case they have any other furniture that needs a makeover :)

I didn't bother trying to get the marker off since I knew I was going to paint right over it. Our client wanted a distressed look with a little "wood" showing through, so I used a brown primer. It took several coats to cover up all the marker.

Here's the final product: I love how it turned out, and I love the vintage hardware we used in place of the knobs!

We also finished this lovely banker's desk for the same client - unfortunately I don't have a before picture.
We will be taking a break from posting our "Friday Finds" until after the holidays, BUT be on the lookout for lots of before and after posts from our recent projects - hopefully we can get those all caught up! We hope everyone has a wonderful week! We are so thankful for all of you and your kind words and support!!!

What's your number?

I saw these knobs the other day online for sale, and that same day on TV there was this really cute dresser with what looked to be hand painted numbers on the drawers, then to top it all off I was out shopping and stumbled upon this... Not only would this go so perfectly in my house but I love the numbers on it.

So it got me thinking about what piece of furniture around my house I can put numbers on. I love the idea of finding a dresser and putting a "special number" to our family on each drawer. Like the number 5 on one drawer because there are 5 of us in my family, I would put 99 on one drawer for the year I was married, and 3 on another for each of my beautiful girls. You can have a lot of fun picking your random special numbers, and it would definitely be a conversation piece in your home.

Happy Friday, everyone! I'm excited to share with you one of my favorite blogs today, Favorite Paint Colors. I love this blog, because it has so many beautiful pictures of paint colors that real people have used in their homes and loved. You can view paint colors by color or room, and you can submit your own photos,as well, if you have a favorite paint color. Here were some of my favorites - can you tell which room is on my list to redo? ;)

(Sorry, I had to throw that one in because it makes me happy :))
it's California Poppy, by Ralph Lauren.

By the way, if you're a fan of Sherwin Williams, I believe they are having a sale on their paint this weekend, but I couldn't find anything online so you'll have to call your local store. I did find you a coupon for $10 off $50 or more at Sherwin Williams. Enjoy!!!
