I love these cute art clips from Pottery Barn (they're $39):
Here's my version (sorry for the horrible lighting!):
I found the wooden star pegs at Michael's - I think they were around $1.50 each, but it's been awhile - anyway, they weren't much! They had tons of cute shapes to choose from - flowers, cars, butterflies, etc. I painted the stars red to match some other artwork we have in the playroom, distressed the edges, sprayed them with a clear sealer, and hung them on the wall. I strung some thick picture-hanging wire between the two stars - you could also use rope or twine - and used clothespins to hang the artwork. Voila! Another cute idea for displaying art for under $5. Don't you just love being able to duplicate something cute for much less?!

Friday Find
We are asked all the time how we paint our furniture and what we use. Well I would like to introduce you to my favorite painting tool. The Graco 2900 HVLP Spray Station. Michalann and I both use this sprayer to give our furniture the best possible paint job ever.
Some of the points I like best about this sprayer are...
Maximum Control - ensures precise application
Minimal Over spray - less material wasted
Ideal for small to medium projects where precision and control are required
Spray a 6' x 6' area in 4 minutes
Quick and effortless clean up
Precision Spray Gun for ultimate control
1 Qt. wide-mouth paint container
3 spray patterns for horizontal, vertical and detail spraying
We payed about $120.00 for this sprayer and I think it has payed for itself, I use it all the time and love it. I am one of those people who do not want to see the brush strokes and this is the perfect painting tool for me.
So for our Friday find for the day I wanted to share a painting tool with you. Happy Friday Everyone!

Friday Find, 8.05.11: Frames and Collages
Good morning, everyone! Today's Friday Find goes along with my next home decorating project: a large photo collage for my staircase! I have been slowly collecting frames and looking for cool family photos. (Remember, a great place to find cool, inexpensive frames is at garage sales and thrift stores - it doesn't matter what's in them, or what color they are - you can always paint them!)
I haven't decided yet if I will stick to a black and white color scheme, like this:
or mix it up a little, like this:
Needless to say, it is going to be a big job! I found some great tips for organizing and hanging collages - you can find them here and here. Have any of you done a photo collage in your home? We would love to see pictures and hear your story - you can email us anytime at: retrochicrestorationsv@yahoo.com. Thanks for reading!
