Friday Find

In the last issue of Flea Market Style, they had a few ways to use old rulers. One of the ways was to make a shelf by putting the rulers on the edge of the wood for decorative trim. I was in need of a few shelf's in my paint room to keep smaller paint cans off the floor. By cutting the wood the same length of the rulers, and screwing them along the edge for trim, this gave me cute and handy shelfs.

I wanted the grain of the wood to come slightly through the paint but did not have the color of stain I was looking for. So, by watering down the paint I was able to lightly apply the paint with a sponge and then wipe it off quickly to give the wood just the right amount of color that I wanted.

Can you tell what brand of paint I like to use? Funny, but this is not even 1/2 of the quarts I have.

While shopping around at a local antique store I also found this old metal cart that someone had glued several rulers to the top of.

It was a fun and simple project to do - and thanks to my hubby, for always being so willing to help me with my projects!

Friday Find "Craigslist style"

The last few weeks we have been very blessed and busy finishing furniture for clients. I have not even had time to check out the local deals on Craigslist. I thought it would be fun to show you what's out there to pick up, and if you are lucky enough to grab one of these deals we would love to refinish it for you. Enjoy shopping!

Table (sorry, no picture) would be really cute painted or re stained.

Coming Soon . . .

One of our clients found this bookcase on Craigslist and wanted to know if we could do something with it for her playroom :)

It is solid wood, and VERY heavy, but needed lots of work.

We filled the cracks, holes, and dings, then laid it on it's side to attach some beadboard.

Here it is, all primed and ready to paint!

Check back next week for the final transformation!

A few years ago, we made our own chalkboard to fill up a large wall in our playroom. Lately, We've been seeing it on furniture, too!

Check out these cute ideas. . . .

Can't wait to try it out!
